The summer transfer window thread
The time has come :)

So what do you think has got to be done in the summer regarding ins and outs?

I wonder what CUSTODIAN would have been on Hugh's dossier?

Re: The summer transfer window thread
"Areola does tend to miss 5 or 6 weeks every season."

Bit of an exaggeration that.

Areola was unavailable for 7 games in all comps this season, with 5 of them coming in the space of 16 days last month. He missed 4 games the previous season, and zero in the 2 years before that. Given that we have no European games next season, it's unlikely that we'll need to call upon his services much, but Fabianski is still a decent enough backup.

I wonder what's going to happen with Nathan Trott. Out of contract in the summer but we have a 2 year extension option. He's had a great season in the Danish 1st division by all accounts so maybe it's worth trying to loan him out at a higher level next year.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
If Fabianski isn't worthy enough to be our number 2 next season, then I'd question why we extended his £65k a week contract for another season.

GOALTENDER is literally the only position we don't need to look at. Every other position on the pitch needs strengthening before that.

Re: The summer transfer window thread

Only concern on Fab is that whilst I wouldn't call him injury prone, Areola does tend to miss 5 or 6 weeks every season. That's OK, but all we'd need is for that to become an extended period and we'd be left with a 39/40 year old between the sticks and a kid on the bench for a couple of months.

Not Roberto levels of poor planning but I still think we need another number 2

Reckon Fab can do one more season behind Areola so dont need a keeper
Saw Seaman was saying Ramsdale should go to West Ham. Do fuck off

I'd like to see Scarles & Robinson assessed as potential full back/wing back options

Re: The summer transfer window thread
One obvious thing you notice about all the top teams across Europe, in the modern game, is the abundance of real pace across the team and especially in the back line ( 4, 3 or 5 at the back) . It was always the case that many wingers and forwards were rapid but take City and even Spurs their defences are super quick. Of course allied to that these players particularly for City are so good technically and the 2 full backs can be wing backs and along with centre backs are all able to hit 50, 60 yard diagonal balls to the feet or chest of team mates, have instant control and first touch. All so comfortable on the ball. City’s slowest players were probably De Bruyne and Rodri in centre mid. Spurs were able to knock them out of their rhythm with pacy players, pressing very fast in a conjested midfield.

Long winded way ( thats what I do :-) ) of me hoping these traits will be priorities in our recruitment at the back as well as forward positions.

Its the thing that stands out a mile in Moyes teams. Aside from Bowen and Antonio he never valued pace and even technique as much as physicality. Steidten started to address that last summer with Kudus and even Dinis and Alvarez being mobile and possessing good technique.

Young Potts has great technique and can mive fairly quickly and Downes similar so they will help the squad as back up and/or alongside Alvarez in the centre mid. Its the full or wing back areas and centre backs we need to see bolstered in this respect too. Anyone know much about this Greaves fella at Hull? Is he a Steidten pick? Quick? Good control and passing?

The U21s seem to have potentially 2 or 3 that might come into the squad and seem to possess these traits. Well Earthy seemed to?

Just hoping we get a fair few of the many transfers needed in early. Worst thing would be like last season where most of our business was concluded very late.

Bless Nutsin. Taking all the end of season pre-arranged PR as gospel. Poor little naive sceptic.

Here's a thing... not everyone on this site publicly says you're a cunt, but everyone thinks it

A couple in the media today…

Jacob Bruun Larsen - On loan at Burnley 6 in 31 (a lot of subs). 25.

Simon Banza - Braga 37 in 87 (wiki says 32 in 56). 27.

Hold my hands up and say I don’t know a lot about either.

Moyes improved the club a lot,” said midfielder Tomas Soucek. “We can see the improvement, especially with winning the Conference League last season. I'm happy we won his last home game as manager and the whole stadium gave him a great send-off. Now it's a new journey for us but we want to build on from this win.2 days ago

Kudus heaped a world of praise on Moyes, as did Bowen. The players sure liked him.

We need to keep Kudus here next season

If he goes in the summer will make us look like a tinpot club!

We need to keep him aa part of Lopetegui first season at least

Agree that Greaves & Edwards would be good centre half choices
Don’t want any of those Arsenal rejects
Smith-Rowe would be expensive and a poor (spendthrift?) man’s George EARTHY
How long have they been trying to get rid of Nketiah at a stupid price?
